Lay out the work
Break a project into milestones, milestones into features, and features into the tasks someone will actually do. Five fixed levels, so every workspace reads the same way.

People take their own tasks
Each person creates and moves the tasks they own on a shared kanban board. Everybody can see the whole board; nobody can edit anyone else’s card.

The percentages look after themselves
Moving one task to Done recalculates its feature, then the milestone, then the project, then the workspace, in the same database transaction. Nobody files a status update.

Numbers you can trust
Progress is computed in the database, not in the browser. No application code can write a percentage, so the figures cannot drift from the underlying work.
You own your own work
Everyone sees the whole board, but a task can only be edited by the person who created it, including by the workspace owner. Enforced by database access rules, not just hidden buttons.
Always current
Boards refresh every 15 seconds while you are looking at them and pause when you switch tabs, so teammates see each other move without anyone hitting reload.
Invite by email
Send a link that only works for the address it was sent to, and expires after 48 hours. Recipients do not need an account in advance, signing in creates one.

FAQ
Questions people ask first
How is the progress percentage calculated?
A feature is the share of its tasks that are done: three of four tasks complete is 75%. Every level above it is the plain average of its children, a milestone averages its features, a project averages its milestones, a workspace averages its projects. Each level therefore counts equally, so a project with four tasks moves the workspace number as much as one with four hundred.
Can I edit someone else’s task?
No, and neither can the workspace owner. Tasks are visible to every member of the workspace but writable only by the person who created them. That rule lives in the database’s row-level security policies, so it holds no matter how a request arrives, the interface merely reflects it.
Do I need an invitation to sign up?
No. Creating an account is open to anyone, with a Google account or an emailed sign-in link. Joining a workspace is a separate step afterwards: you either create your own or accept an invitation someone sent to your email address.
What happens when someone accepts an invitation?
Invitations are tied to the email address they were sent to and expire after 48 hours. Accepting one adds you to that workspace as a member: you can see everything in it and create your own tasks anywhere in its hierarchy.
Can I be in more than one workspace?
Yes. One account can own some workspaces and be a member of others, and you can switch between them from the workspace title at any time. Data is never shared between them.
Who can delete a workspace?
Only its owner, and only after retyping the workspace name to confirm. Deletion is permanent and removes every project, milestone, feature and task inside it, including tasks other members created.
Does the board update while other people are working?
Yes. Boards refetch every 15 seconds while the tab is visible and pause when it is not, so you see teammates’ changes without reloading and without the app polling in the background all day.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Progress Tracker is free to use, with no per-seat pricing and no limit on the number of workspaces, projects or tasks.
What we ask of your Google account
Signing in with Google shares only your name, email address and profile picture, so we can create your account and show teammates who you are. We never receive your password, and we have no access to Gmail, Drive, Calendar or your contacts. You can revoke access at any time from your Google account permissions page.
